The patient is placed under IV sedation or general anesthesia and will be unconscious throughout the procedure, which takes approximately one hour to complete. Typically, small incisions are made behind the ears and under the chin to easily conceal scarring. Unwanted pockets of fat are removed via liposuction, and excess skin is trimmed away and tightened until the desired shape is achieved. Once the procedure is complete and the patient is approved for discharge, they may return home with an overnight headwrap to begin their recovery.
