Body Lift in Oklahoma City

A circumferential body lift combines techniques from the tummy tuck and the buttock lift. This combined procedure requires 2-3 hours to perform. This procedure is typically performed for our patients in Oklahoma City who have experienced major weight loss.

Is the Body Lift Right for you?

Body lift surgery is recommended for patients who:

  • Have experienced massive weight loss
  • Have loose skin on the abdomen, buttocks, thighs and hips
  • Are in good health, and have reached a stable body weight

During a consultation, Dr. Nuveen can help you evaluate your goals for body contouring. After an evaluation of your medical history and goals, he can determine if the lower body lift is right for you.

Body Lift FAQ

The following are common questions about a body lift in Oklahoma City. For more information, please contact our office with your questions.

How does a body lift work?

A body lift is performed with intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. The incisions are made around the entire circumference of the body. The position of the incisions varies from person to person, but is usually hip to hip, front and back. The excess skin between the incisions is removed. The incisions are then pulled together and closed. In addition, liposuction is often performed to improve overall contour of the lower back and outer thigh regions.

What happens after body lift surgery?

The discomfort and recovery time is comparable to a tummy tuck. An overnight stay is necessary, which is spent in the comfort of our recovery suite. Patients can usually return home the next day. Moderate discomfort is controlled with prescription pain medications, which are usually recommended for 2-5 days. Anticipate some swelling for up to 12 weeks and the final results can be appreciated after up to 2 years, when scar maturity is complete. The results of body lift surgery are long lasting and permanent unless you experience substantial weight gain.

What are the risks involved with body lift surgery?

Risks associated with circumferential body lift include, but are not limited to: problems related to anesthesia, infection, bleeding, blood clots, poor wound healing, wound separation, widened or raised scars, seroma (fluid collection under the skin), numbness in the abdomen (usually temporary).
