How long will my breast lift surgery last?
Your breast lift surgery will be an outpatient procedure. It should be finished within three hours. Surgery is performed with a general anesthetic, so you sleep through the procedure. In cases where minimal surgery is necessary for correction, a local anesthetic with sedation may be used.
How is breast lift surgery performed?
An incision is made around the nipple, extending down to and then across the breast crease. Tissue is removed and tightened to elevate the breast. The nipple is also elevated to a more youthful position on the breast. The doctor will then close the incisions and cover them with surgical gauze and tape.
What will my initial recovery be like?
When you leave your surgery, you will need to have transportation and help around the home for several days. Your activity will need to be limited to control possible swelling, but you should begin walking with caution one day after surgery. Any discomfort you feel may be managed with medication prescribed by Dr. Nuveen.
Many people believe your doctor is solely responsible for the healing process, but no one person can make another heal. Dr. Nuveen can facilitate (but not accelerate) your healing but you must also take an active role in that process. Your cooperation and close attention is extremely important when it comes to your post-operative healing.
When will I be able to return to a normal routine?
After about two weeks or so of healing, you may be able to begin incorporating light exercise into your day. At this time, you may also return to work, as long as your job does not involve physical labor. After several weeks, most of the healing should be completed and you may resume your normal routine.
