Cheek Augmentation in Oklahoma City
Strong cheekbones and full facial tissue are hallmarks of youth and beauty. Many people are unfortunately born with weak bone structure. Others see the tissue in the cheeks flatten out over time.
With cheek augmentation, Dr. Nuveen can create fullness in the middle of the face and balance the cheekbones with your existing facial features.
Is Cheek Augmentation Right For Me?
Candidates for cheek augmentation will typically show conditions such as the following:
- Weak cheekbone structure
- Loss of midfacial tissue
- Wrinkles and lines
During a consultation at our cosmetic surgery practice in Oklahoma City, Dr. Nuveen can determine if cheek augmentation is right for you. A particular method can also be recommended, whether it's a facial implant or dermal filler.
FAQ
How does cheek augmentation work?
Cheek augmentation involves injection of a dermal filler or surgical placement of an alloplastic facial implant. If you're planning to undergo a facelift or eyelid surgery, a cheek implant can be inserted during the same operation.
Placement of a facial implant requires less than one hour of operating time. General anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation can be used. Dr. Nuveen makes an incision inside the upper lip or in the lower eyelid. A pocket is made for the implant before it is inserted and fastened.
Injectable wrinkle fillers can also be used for cheek augmentation. Dr. Nuveen will inject the filler into the cheek area using a fine needle. Discomfort can be controlled with numbing cream, often in combination with lidocaine that is contained in the wrinkle filler. The filler increases tissue volume and cheek projection.
What happens after cheek augmentation?
Some swelling will occur for several days, but the results of cheek augmentation can be appreciated immediately.
