What does the treatment feel like?
Since Juvederm is an injection-based treatment, a needle is involved. However, the Juvederm solution contains lidocaine, which will help improve your comfort. While your skin may feel tight after the procedure, you should experience minimal discomfort.
How long will the treatment take?
For minimal lines and wrinkles on the face, your Juvederm treatment can be completed in 15 minutes. If you have more depressions on your face to be treated, however, Juvederm treatment can last up to 45 minutes for some patients.
What is the treatment process?
Prior to your Juvederm procedure, your skin at the treatment site will be cleansed and may be marked for the injections. Dr. Nuveen will then inject the Juvederm solution beneath the surface of your skin using a special technique. This technique may include linear threading, crosshatching or fanning. You will experience an immediate correction of the wrinkle. At this point, Dr. Nuveen may gently massage the area with his fingertips, ensuring an even placement of the product.
How will I care for my skin after treatment?
For the first few hours after your Juvederm treatment, Dr. Nuveen will ask you to avoid alcohol, direct sun exposure and exercise. This will ensure that the product is properly placed within the skin. You may experience some swelling or redness, but these are temporary side effects and will fade within a day or two.
How long will the effects last?
The benefits of your Juvederm treatment can last from six to 12 months for many patients. During this time, your body will naturally break down the Juvederm solution. As this happens, you may wish to return to Dr. Nuveen's practice to maintain the result.
