Laser Skin Resurfacing in Oklahoma City

Laser treatment can help you reverse many signs of aging that reside on the surface of your skin. If you'd like smoother, brighter skin, tighter skin, then you should consider a laser resurfacing treatment at Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates in Oklahoma City.

Is Laser Rejuvenation right for you?

Laser treatment sends pulses of light deep into the layers of your skin, heating it. This heat delivered to the deepest layers of your skin targets the damaged pigments and tissues of your skin, beginning a regenerative process in your skin's collagen. By targeting your damaged skin cells, laser resurfacing can treat common problems like:

  • fine lines
  • uneven texture
  • hyperpigmentation

With the latest fractional laser technology, laser resurfacing is more convenient than ever before. Our laser resurfacing procedure is ideal for patients who are too busy for a long recovery period, but they still want noticeable results.

In your consultation with Dr. Nuveen, he will explain the benefits of Lumenis Active FX and how it can remedy some of your most bothersome skin conditions. One of the benefits of a Lumenis treatment is that many skin issues can be repaired in a single pass of the laser, removing the need for multiple sessions, as some laser treatments necessitate.

Laser Resurfacing FAQ

What does the laser treatment feel like?

Since the laser's energy heats the skin in short, focused bursts, the treatment produces a warming effect on the skin, alternated with periods of cooling. Many patients do not feel the need for an anesthetic, though a topical option may be available to you.

How long will the treatment last?

Your laser treatment procedure time will be dependent on your skin condition and the size of the area to be treated. For small treatment areas, your procedure may be completed in under half an hour. For larger treatment sites, or more troubled skin, you can expect the treatment to last up to an hour and a half.

How is the treatment completed?

Prior to your Lumenis Active FX procedure, your skin will be cleansed at the treatment site—often the face, neck, chest or hands. The Lumenis handpiece will then be set to your unique specifications. Slowly and deliberately, the Lumenis handpiece will be passed over the surface of your skin. It will emit short, focused bursts of laser energy which penetrate into the deeper layers of your skin, heating it. When your treatment is complete, an ointment may be applied to the treatment site.

How will I feel after treatment?

It is not uncommon for you to experience some swelling or redness after a laser treatment. These will be short-lived, however. Dr. Nuveen will ask you to take care of your skin, though, making sure to avoid direct sun exposure for several days and to apply a daily moisturizer with SPF.

When will I be able to see the results of my Lumenis treatment?

Lumenis ActiveFX results are long term, and with proper sun protection the results can last for many years. Most effects of treatment become visible right away, whereas others-such as new collagen formation- build up gradually and result in continued smoothing over time. Therefore, most people continue to show improvement up to six months after the procedure.
