Common Questions About Radiesse
Will I need an anesthetic for Radiesse?
While you should not experience much, if any, discomfort during your Radiesse treatment, a topical anesthetic may be offered to you. Alternatively, an ice pack may be applied to your skin before and after treatment.
How long will my Radiesse treatment take?
Most treatments of Radiesse are completed in less than 45 minutes. If the treatment area is small, your procedure may be finished in under 15 minutes.
How is Radiesse injected?
Prior to your treatment, your skin will be cleansed and you may be offered a topical anesthetic or ice pack. When you are prepped for the treatment, Dr. Nuveen will inject a specific amount of the Radiesse solution beneath the surface of your skin at the site of the wrinkle. He may use a special technique like fanning, linear threading or crosshatching. Dr. Nuveen may then gently massage the treatment site with his hand, ensuring a smooth result. An immediate correction will be visible.
How will I feel after treatment?
Following your treatment, your skin at the treatment site may feel overly full, but this feeling will dissipate. Any redness or swelling should be gone within 24 to 48 hours. Dr. Nuveen will ask you to limit your activity for several hours, but you should be able to keep up with most of your regular routine.
How long does Radiesse last?
The effects of Radiesse can be quite long-lasting—around a year for many patients. As the Radiesse is naturally broken down by your body, you may wish to return to Dr. Nuveen for maintenance treatments.
